The Sheriff’s Office has received multiple calls recently from citizens who have received phone calls from someone claiming to be a Sergeant with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office requesting them to come to a location and provide a DNA swab for an investigation.
No one from our Office is currently investigating any case where we would be calling individuals to make this request by telephone to come to a random location.
Those requests are normally made in person. This is a scam call and should be ignored and reported if you receive one.
