Alexander County Sheriff Chad Pennell has announced the name of the man who was shot and killed after an altercation Sunday night.
The deceased is Jason Melvin Williams, age 39 of Taylorsville. Williams had multiple orders for arrest for Failure to Appear involving various crimes.
As previously reported, On Sunday evening, May 12th, Alexander County Deputies went to a location on Dusty Road in the Wittenburg Community. They had received information that Williams, a fugitive was at the location.

Williams had active warrants for multiple felony probation violations out of county, felony larceny, felony possession of stolen goods, felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule IV controlled substance and resisting arrest.
Sheriff Pennell said Tuesday afternoon that the Deputy involved in the shooting remains on paid administrative leave pending the investigation by the SBI.
