The deadline to apply for the Superintendent of Alexander County Schools position ended last Friday.
The Board of Education contracted a firm, The Masonboro Group, to conduct the search to replace Dr. Jennifer Hefner, who is retiring July 1st. The Board paid the firm $18,500 for the task with the understanding that they would submit 25-30 qualified applicants for the position. That projection fell short !
The Masonboro Group said on Monday they have a total of 12 applicants that meet established criteria. The applicants are from North Carolina and other states. Background checks are being conducted before the list is narrowed for interviews.
An interview process will be established by the Board of Education.
