Robert Lyss Newland III, age 54 of Taylorsville, was taken into custody on Thursday. Alexander County Deputies served a warrant for failure to appear. Newland has failed to appear on a 2022 charge of possession of a firearm by a felon. As of earlier today, Newland remains in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $40,000.
