Alexander County Man Returned To Jail

Mark Wesley Clanton, age 50 of Taylorsville, was placed in custody on Wednesday, He was served warrants for failure to appear. The original charges date to June, 2024 when he was charged by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Clanton is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $60,000. A January 13th, 2025 court date is now scheduled.

Clanton is scheduled to appear in Catawba County Superior Court on January 6th for a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon. He also has a pending pair of driving while license revoked charges awaiting trial in Catawba County.
