Alexander County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Issues Request For Proposals

January 3, 2025 By Richard C. Gilbert

The Alexander County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) has studied the risk factors and needs of juvenile court-involved youths in Alexander County, and has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for programs for fiscal year 2025-2026.

The JCPC anticipates receiving $140,199 from the NC Department of Public Safety to fund the program types specified below. Such programs will serve delinquent and at-risk youth for the state fiscal year 2025-2026 beginning on or after July 1, 2025. The use of these funds in this county requires a 30 percent local match.

Interested program providers may access the full Request for Proposals at https://bit.ly/25-26-ac-jcpc-rfp.

The JCPC will consider proposals for the following needed programs: substance abuse assessment, substance abuse treatment, psychological evaluation, problem sexual behavior treatment, individual/group/family counseling, temporary shelter care, runaway shelter care, home-based family counseling, mediation/conflict resolution, restitution/community service, teen court, experiential skill building, life skills, parent/family skill building, interpersonal skill building, vocational development, and mentoring.

Proposed program services should target the following risk factors for delinquency or repeat delinquency: juveniles who associate with other negative/delinquent/gang-involved peers, parenting skills/family criminal history, mental health (substance abuse and victimization), and school behavior problems/absences.

Local public agencies, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporations, and housing authorities are invited to submit applications to provide services addressing the above elements.

To apply for FY 2025-2026 JCPC funding, agencies must complete and apply online by accessing NC ALLIES. Please read and follow all instructions at https://cp.ncdjjdp.org/CP/.

An information session will be held virtually on Tuesday, January 21 at 10:00 a.m. This meeting is mandatory for new programs that are interested in applying for funds. For login details or for more information about the Alexander County JCPC Request for Proposals, contact Area Consultant Scott Stoker at 704-956-3984 or p.scott.stoker@ncdps.gov.

The deadline for online applications is February 15 at 5:00 p.m.
