A Bethlehem residence was destroyed by fire on Thursday.
Alexander County Fire Marshall Mark Earle says the dwelling was located at 376 Old Schoolhouse Road. Units from Bethlehem, Ellendale and Wittenburg responded around 4pm. Earle says that firefighters were called back to the scene shortly after 9pm when the fire rekindled. No injuries were reported. The likely cause was a wood stove but the investigation is ongoing.
