ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC (March 2, 2021) – If you are in health care or are age 65+ and want to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, the Alexander County Health Department is scheduling appointments for this Thursday and Friday, March 4-5.
The health department has completed its waiting list and has approximately 200 first doses to be administered to those in groups 1 (health care) and 2 (age 65+). To schedule your appointment this week, call the vaccine hotline at 828-352-7724 or visit www.alexandercountync.gov/covid.
Those in education and child care (group 3a) are being vaccinated this Wednesday, March 3 and throughout next week. Teachers and school staff were scheduled on a school-wide level to avoid having to be placed on a waiting list; however, if you are in education or child care and do not have an appointment, please call the hotline or complete the online form to get your vaccination scheduled.
Peoples Drug Store was scheduled to receive 100 doses this week, but actually received 200 doses. The local pharmacy will be administering vaccinations this Wednesday and Thursday, March 3-4. Those in health care, age 65+, education, or child care should call 828-632-2271 to schedule an appointment.
Alexander County Government continues to urge citizens to practice the 3 Ws: wear a mask, wait at least six feet apart, and wash your hands often.
