We understand that most are aware of the wildfires to our west and that there may be an urge to call in smoke visible on the horizon. That’s due to drift smoke from those fires. The wind change will be blowing more smoke in as the days go on. We ask that if you do see smoke, please check to see if there is an actual fire in your area. Look for a “column” instead of a haze. Your fire departments and the NC Forest Service have chased smoke and responded to a lot of calls locally and several are in the process of deployment out of County. We guarantee you that no matter how hard they have been running, or where they are going next, they will still respond when called.
