Alexander County Drug Raid Nets Four Arrests Thursday Morning

Following an investigation and with a search warrant, Alexander County Narcotics Officers and Deputies made a series of arrests early Thursday morning. The arrests were made at at 141 Tarlton Drive in Taylorsville. Officers seized 133.9 grams of Methamphetamine, 5.1 grams of Fentanyl, and 0.6 grams of Cocaine. Officers also seized firearms in this investigation. Taylorsville Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation assisted in this investigation.

Kisha Lashae Morgan

Kisha Lashae Morgan, age 33 of Taylorsville is charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $150,000.

Morgan has a previous pending charge for larceny awaiting trial in Caldwell County.

Benjamin Trey Byrd

Benjamin Trey Byrd, age 34 of Taylorsville is charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substance on jail premises and possession of a firearm by a felon. He’s being held without bond.

Byrd has previous pending charges in Catawba County for felony possession of schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. His next Catawba County Court date is January 9th in Newton.

Caleb Parks Gwaltney

Caleb Parks Gwaltney, age 33 of Hiddenite, is charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held without bond in the Alexander County Detention Center.

Gwaltney has previous charges pending in Catawba County for felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of schedule I controlled substance, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana, possession of schedule IV controlled substance and larceny. A Catawba County Court date is scheduled for December 18th in Newton. A previous charge of violating a domestic violence protection order is also awaiting trial in Alexander County.

Ricky James Kilby

Ricky James Kilby, age 38 of Taylorsville is charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia. He’s being held under a secured bond of $30,000.

Kilby has a long list of previous charges and convictions mostly involving drug-related activity.

All four suspects are scheduled to appear in Alexander County District Court on Monday, December 9th.

The investigation is ongoing with additional charges possible.
