Alexander County Detention Officer Injured After Being Assaulted By Inmate

A Taylorsville man has been charged with assaulting a detention officer.

37-year old Van Lian was arrested on August 3rd for a variety of offenses including driving while impaired and carrying a concealed gun. On Thursday, August 8th, Lian allegedly assaulted an Alexander County Detention Officer. The Officer suffered some minor injuries and received medical treatment. As result of the incident, Lian has been charged with felony assault on a Detention Officer, 3 counts of resisting an officer and obstructing a delay. Bond has been set at $30,000 secured with a court date scheduled for August 19th in Alexander County District Court.
