Alexander County Deputies Arrest Parole Absconder

Melissa Ann Riley, age 42 and listed as homeless, was arrested after a traffic stop by the Alexander County Sheriff”s Office during the pre-dawn hours on Wednesday. She gave Deputies a false name. Riley was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. At the time of her arrest she was listed as a parole absconder in Iredell County. She remains in the Alexander County Detention Center with bond set at $25,000.

Riley is awaiting trial in Iredell County on previous charges that include felony possession of methamphetamine and felony probation violation. A Superior Court date in Statesville is set for March 24th. Riley is currently serving a 24 month combined suspended sentence from Haywood County for assault on a government official and from Iredell County for for felony drug possession.
