The Alexander County Health Department reported 6 new COVID-19 cases on Friday
Alexander County Public Health is pleased to provide Covid-19 vaccinations for our citizens.
At this time the Alexander County Health Department is scheduling:
· First and second dose appointments for the Pfizer vaccine for persons age 12 and older and the Moderna vaccine for persons age 18 and older
· Pfizer booster vaccines for persons who received both their first and second Pfizer doses at least 6 months ago and who can self-attest that they are (1 or more of the following):age 65 or older;age 18 or older and a resident of a long-term care facility; are 18-64 with an underlying medical condition(s) that puts them at high risk for severe COVID-19, or are 18-64 with an occupational exposure to COVID-19
We also continue to schedule third-doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to fully vaccinated persons who are moderately to severely immunocompromised according to CDC guidelines.
As of 10/21/21 the FDA & CDC authorized the Moderna booster for the same populations as the Pfizer booster and at six-months after second dose, the Janssen/J&J booster for adults 18 & over at least 2 months after initial dose, and mix & match boosters for those authorized to receive one. We are waiting to receive our standing orders so that we may administer Moderna and mix & match boosters and we expect to begin scheduling these around 10/26/21.
We do not have the Janssen/J&J vaccine but those who meet criteria and are interested in it are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider or local pharmacy.
