Alexander County has a cumulative total of 4,020 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 77 cases in the last 14 days and 21 cases in the last seven (7) days. The health department has reported 84 deaths associated with the virus with no additional deaths since March 1. Currently, 10 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. Alexander County’s COVID-19 positive test rate is 4.9 percent while the state’s rate is 3.9 percent.
As of March 18, the health department has administered approximately 8,500 total vaccinations, and continues to vaccinate those in Groups 1, 2, and 3, and has just started vaccinating those in Group 4 with a high-risk medical condition. The rest of Group 4 will become eligible on April 7.
For the week of March 22, the health department is scheduled to receive 600 first doses and Peoples Drug Store is scheduled to receive 200 first doses.

In addition, Peoples Drug Store is hosting a mass vaccination clinic with more than 1,000 first doses on Saturday, March 20 at East Taylorsville Baptist Church and Sunday, March 21 at Mt.
