Alexander County is pleased to announce the addition of a new weather station in the Sugar Loaf community, enhancing local weather monitoring capabilities. This initiative fills a critical gap in the county’s weather station network, providing comprehensive coverage for the area.
In collaboration with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Alexander County has been actively securing grants to install weather stations over the past several years. The newly installed Davis Vantage Vue weather station in Sugar Loaf joins existing stations in Taylorsville, Rocky Face Park, Hiddenite, Stony Point, Ellendale, and Bethlehem.
These state-of-the-art weather stations, which are fully funded through grants, stream live weather data accessible to citizens via the Davis WeatherLink app or the WeatherLink website, available with a free account. Additionally, the data from these stations is now integrated with the National Weather Service, enhancing the accuracy and timeliness of weather alerts for the region.
Alexander County remains committed to leveraging advanced technology to improve public safety and provide residents with reliable, real-time weather information.
