Alexander Central Women Win, Men Lose Friday In Holiday Event

Women

Alexander Central 61 Fred T Foard 49

Four Alexander Central Lady Cougars scored in double-figures and the defending tournament champs won their opener. Addie Jack paced AC with 15 (5 three-pointers), Malayah Adams had 14, Ava Head and Meredith Wike added 10 points each. Jessica Bailey led Foard with 20. Alexander Central (8-2) moves on in the winners bracket and will play the event’s #1 seed Maiden at 6pm Saturday.

Men

Hickory 66 Alexander Central 59

Defending Champion Hickory stormed out to a 23-9 lead at the end of the opening quarter and kept the Cougars from advancing. Jay Powell led Hickory with 19 points. ACHS was led as usual by Jayon Connor with 21. Garison Millsaps added 17 in his first game of the season. The Cougars drop to 4-6 and will play Bunker Hill in the losers bracket at 1:30 pm on Saturday.
