Alexander Central Women Roll In Tournament Opener

Alexander Central 55 Freedom 37

The Lady Cougars beat Freedom for the second time in less than a week to open play in the Northwestern Conference Tournament Tuesday night in Taylorsville.

ACHS scored 16 fast break points, Freedom had none. They also outscored Freedom from the bench 24-4.

Hallie Jarrett led AC with 13 points. Meredith Wike had another double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds and Malayah Adams came off the bench with 10. Adams also had 7 assists and 4 steals.

Syndie Demiter was the top scorer for Freedom with 21.

The Lady Cougars are 19-6 on the season while the Patriots drop to 12-12.

AC advances to the semi-final on Thursday and will face number one seed Hibriten at 7pm in Morganton.
