Taylorsville: Alexander Central had revenge on their minds and they got it. After losing to Freedom in January, in fact being routed, it was obvious this was not going to happen again.
AC never trailed and led 21-12 at half. The Lady Cougars swarming defense limited the Morganton visitors to 28 percent shooting from the field.
Meredith Wike led the Lady Cougar scoring with 13. Malayah Adams continued her recent offensive uptick with 13 and Anna Jordan added 12. Kirstyn Herman had 9 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Payton Caldwell led the Lady Patriots with 21.
Alexander Central completes the regular season at 19-5 and 5-5 in Northwestern Conference play. Freedom drops to 12-11 and 3-7.
Varsity Men

It seemed the Cougars were destined to go to the free-throw line and Freedom obliged with 18 personal fouls. AC attempted 24 free-throws and made 16, it was the difference in the game. Freedom, in the physical battle went 9 of 15 from the charity stripe.
Jayon Connor led the Cougars with 15 points followed by Chad Lasher with 12 and Garison Millsaps with 11. Millsaps led AC with 11 rebounds.
Kobe Johnson paced the Patriot scoring with 12.
Alexander Central finishes the regular season at 10-14 while Freedom goes 11-12.
