Hays: The Lady Cougars had to rally to earn a win Monday night on the road. ACHS tailed 16-11 after the first quarter and 24-19 at the half. AC outscored the Lady Vikings 29-19 in the second half to survive and stay unbeaten.
For the second straight game, Kirstyn Herman led Alexander Central’s scoring with 12 points. Herman had 9 rebounds. Meredith Wike had a cold shooting night and ended up with 9 points but she was the leading rebounder with 13. Malayah Adams added 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Olivia Rhodes was tops for North with 16 including 11-12 from the free-throw line.
Alexander Central is 8-0, North Wilkes falls to 5-2.
Varsity Men
Alexander Central 64 North Wilkes 39
The Cougars led 15-13 after the first period but they stormed past the Vikings to win in a rout.
Chad Lasher led AC with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Garison Millsaps ended the night with 12 and 8.
Rebounding was a huge advantage for the Blue and Gold as they cleaned the glass by a margin of 38-22 resulting in a 22-6 edge in second-chance points.
Trey Johnson led North with 11 points.
Alexander Central is now 4-4 while North Wilkes drops to 3-2.
The Cougars travel to Central Davidson this evening.
