Alexander Central Softball And Baseball Get Saturday Wins !

Varsity Softball

Alexander Central 14 Central Cabarrus 4…6 innings

Taylorsville: The Lady Cougars scored 10 runs in the opening inning and beat the visitors from Concord 14-4 on Saturday at Central Park.

Senior Kirstyn Herman homered, went 3 for 4 and drove in 4 runs for ACHS. Anna Jordan and Alyssa Chapman had two hits each.

Laney Wike got the win in the circle for Alexander Central who improve to 12-2. Central Cabarrus drops to 12-5.

AC will travel to Ashe County on Monday.

Varsity Baseball

Alexander Central 10 Freedom 0…6 innings

Morganton: The Cougars got a strong performance from sophomore Dillon Church on the mound. Church pitched a 1-hit shutout in a game called after 6 innings due to the mercy rule.

Jaret Hoppes, Tyler Kerley and Wade Queen all drove in a pair of runs for the Cougars.

ACHS is now 8-8 and 3-2 in Northwestern Conference play. They travel to Ashe County on Monday.
