Alexander Central advanced in the State 3A Softball Playoffs Friday night with a 3-0 shutout victory over China Grove Carson.
Pitcher Faith Carrigan blanked the visitors allowing 4 hits and striking out 5. Averie Presnell drove in all three AC runs including a blast that the howling wind couldn’t hold back in the 3rd inning to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. She also plated two runs in the 4th with an opposite-field single.
Alexander Central improves to 13-3 and will host East Rowan in the Regional Semi-Final on Saturday at 6pm.
