Olin: A bad 4th quarter and a cold shooting night led to Alexander Central taking their first loss of the season at North Iredell Friday evening.
North led 17-16 at the half to see the visitors carry a 35-31 lead after 3 periods. The Lady Raiders took over in a game that featured 8 lead changes. North’s bench outscored AC 21-4 but the story of the contest was the frigid shooting by Alexander Central. AC was 7 of 40 from behind the arc and shot 22 percent for the game. Meredith Wike led the Lady Cougars with 16 points and 20 rebounds. Addie Jack added 13 as the Alexander drops to 3-1. North, now 3-1, was paced by Tatum Bradford with 13 points.
Varsity Men
Alexander Central 64 North Iredell 54
Jayon Connor added to his early season surge with 32 points and 17 rebounds as the Cougars win their second game in a row. Connor was 10 of 20 from the field. Lukson Green had 15 for the Blue and Gold, all 15 on three point baskets. Oliver Stamey topped the Raider scoring with 23. Alexander Central is now 2-2, North falls to 1-3.
