Alexander Central Baseball Shocks South Caldwell

Hudson: Alexander Central stunned South Caldwell Tuesday night in the opening round of the state baseball playoffs.

The Cougars, seeded 26th in the west, got standout pitching from Grayson Anderson who earned the win. Anderson went 5.1 innings allowing 3 hits and 2 earned runs. Drew Chapman retired the final 5 batters.

AC pounded-out 13 hits led by Jaret Hoppes (3-4). Sawyer Chapman-Mays and Bubba Pope had a pair of hits each and two rbi. Wade Queen also had two hits and a run-batted-in as did Ty Matheson.

The Cougars (13-12) will move to Round II at South Meck. South advanced with a 13-3 victory over Hickory Ridge.
