Alexander Central Advances In State Playoffs !

Marion: Alexander Central is headed to the third-round of the state playoffs after a road win over McDowell Friday night.

McDowell led at the half 18-16. The third quarter was the difference, AC outscored the Lady Titans 16-8.

ACHS shot 41 percent on the night and held McDowell to 26.1 percent.

Meredith Wike had 16 points, Malayah Adams and Hallie Jarrett both had 8. Senior Kirstyn Herman was held to only 5 points but she had 10 rebounds.

Kensly Stewart topped McDowell (23-6) with 11 points.

The Lady Cougars (22-6) will travel to Lake Norman (26-2) in Round III on Tuesday. Lake Norman advanced with a win of Winston-Salem Reynolds 72-46. Game time is 6pm.
