18-Year Old Skateboarder Struck And Killed Saturday Morning In Statesville

The Statesville Police Department is investigating a collision in which a skateboarder was struck and killed on Davie Avenue early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the intersection of Davie Avenue and Ramsey Court about 6:10 a.m. after receiving a report of a collision involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived on scene, they located an 18-year-old Statesville man, who was lying in the roadway suffering from injuries sustained from being struck by a motor vehicle.

The teen succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.

The motor vehicle involved in the collision was operated by a 67-year old woman from Statesville. She was still on scene when officers arrived.

The investigation is ongoing
