On May 28, members of a Statesville church contacted the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office after discovering suspicious activity involving the church’s cemetery fund. While reviewing the account, the church treasurer uncovered several financial discrepancies that raised concerns about possible theft.
The investigation was assigned to the Special Victims Unit Financial Crimes Division.
During the investigation, it was discovered that multiple checks had been written from the church’s cemetery fund account to one of the account holders, Jamie Bame Shore. Investigators determined the checks totaled $9,700 and that the funds had been used by Shore for personal purchases rather than for the intended purpose of maintaining the cemetery fund.
Based on the evidence, warrants were issued charging Jamie Bame Shore, 58, of Cleveland, with four counts of Felony Embezzlement. Shore was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and issued a $10,000 secured bond.
