Woman Charged After Pedestrian Struck And Killed In Lincoln County

Vale – On Tuesday, October 17, at approximately 9:20 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Lincoln County on NC 27 near Millers Park Lane. A 2015 Ford Explorer was traveling west on NC 27 and struck a pedestrian who was walking westbound in the roadway. The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and the roadway was not lighted.

The pedestrian, Chadwick Lee Garmon, 33, of Vale, NC, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Explorer, Naomi Elizabeth Yandle, 51, of Vale, NC, was not injured.

The initial investigation does indicate impairment to be a contributing factor. Yandle was arrested and charged with driving while impaired. Additional charges are pending upon completion of the ongoing investigation and consultation with the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed in the area for approximately two hours.
