Wilkes County Woman Charged With Arson, Attempted Murder

September 14, 2026 By Richard C. Gilbert

Rachel Ann Foster

A Wilkes County woman has been charged with two counts of first-degree arson and two counts of attempted murder.

Rachel Ann Foster, 50, of Millers Creek, was arrested on September 5th by the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Sheriff’s Office in connection with an incident on May 17 in the Rock Creek Community.

Foster allegedly set fire to a camper occupied by a male subject. The fire spread to a nearby mobile home occupied by two females. Firefighters responded to the blazes, in the Roaring River Fire District.
The warrants charging Foster with attempted murder identified occupants of the two dwellings. All were able to escape the flames without injury.

The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office.

Foster remains in custody without bond.
