A Wilkes County man died when the skid steer he was operating plunged about 700 feet down a steep mountainside Monday afternoon.
Kevin Combs, 53, of Millers Creek, was working off Wagon Ridge Lane in the northwestern corner of Wilkes County in Elk Township. The location is around a mile from the Watauga County line.
