DARBY – On Sunday, November 26, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Wilkes County on Elk Creek Darby Road near Meadow Road. A 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 was traveling south on Elk Creek Darby Road, drove off the right side of the roadway, overturned, and struck a tree.
The driver of the truck, Joseph Robert Falco, 37, of Ferguson, NC, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates excessive speed and alcohol to be the contributing factors in the collision. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was partially closed in the area for approximately three hours.
