Wilkes County Man Charged With Assaulting Woman Setting Home On Fire

A Wilkes County man has been charged with assault on a female and first-degree arson.

49-year old Neil Douglas Ferguson of Boomer was arrested and charged with two counts of burning personal property, first-degree arson, and assault on a female by the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office.

On February 9th, the Wilkes Communication Center got a call regarding a home and vehicle fire on Bruno Lane in Boomer. The Boomer Fire Department, assisted by Moravian Falls and Goshen Fire Departments, responded to the scene and brought the fire under control.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations assisted the Wilkes Sheriff’s Office.

Ferguson is being held in the Wilkes County Detention Center with a secured bond set at $50,000.
