An inmate has died in the the Wilkes County Jail. The death was reported on September 13th.
The State Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case.
53-year old Michael Eugene Davenport had been in custody since July 25 on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, misuse of 911 communications and resisting a public officer. He was arrested near his home on Woodhaven Road in Roaring River.
No other details have been released
