Wilkes County Investigation Leads To Statutory Rape Charge

A former Wilkes County resident has been charged with felony statutory rape and other child-sex related crimes.

Robert Dale Billings Jr., age 40, was arrested by the Waynesville Police Department on Wilkes County warrants. Billings is charged with multiple counts of felony statutory rape of a child 15 or younger, felony incest with a child 15 or younger and felony indecent liberties with a child.

Billings is being held in the Wilkes County Detention Center under a $1.75 million bond.

According to the arrest warrants the offenses date to incident in Wilkes County during 2017 and 2018.

The next scheduled court appearance for Billings is listed as April 10th in Wilkes County District Court.
