A fire has charred around 50 acres of woodland near the Alexander-Wilkes County line.
The fire is located atop Pores Knob which is in the Moravian Falls Fire District. It began on Tuesday as the result of a Wilkes County man burning brush on a day with low humidity and gusty winds.
The NC Forest Service and multiple units from Wilkes County have worked the fire which as of early this morning was deemed to be “almost under control” according to a published report.
