Taylorsville: A true pitcher’s duel went the way of Alexander Central and their senior hurler Laney Wike. Wike pitched a not-hitter as the Lady Cougars beat Davie County. They did it with only 3 hits of their own.
AC scored twice in the first inning and added another in the 3rd. Jenna Mason and Laney Wike both had rbi on the night.
Riley Potts of Davie County was the tough luck loser allowing only 3 hits. She walked 3 batters and only 1 of the Cougar runs were earned.
Wike’s pitching line for the night: 7 innings, 0 hits, 0 walks, 5 strikeouts, 1 hit by pitch.
Alexander Central is now 26-2 and will host Round III action Tuesday night and opposition is very familiar, South Caldwell who came from behind to beat Hough 5-3. The two will tangle for the 4th time this season . ACHS won twice in the regular season and South took the Conference Tournament Title game last Friday in Hudson.
