Virginia Man Charged With Break-Ins At Wilkes County Churches

A man has been charged with breaking into and stealing items from two western Wilkes County churches.

Charles William Kuykendall, 41, of Galax, Virginia, was taken into custody on December 13th by the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office on Wilkes charges. He’s being held in the Wilkes County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Kuykendall is charged for an incident that occurred on December 12th at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in the Mount Pleasant community and at Maple Springs Baptist Church in Purlear. He faces two felony counts apiece of breaking and entering into a place of worship and larceny after breaking and entering.

He also is charged with being a sex-offender on premises of a place intended primarily for children in addition to being served with a warrant from the Wythe County Virginia for probation violation.
