A Virginia man wanted on more than 15 felony charges involving the theft of prescription narcotics from a nursing home has been arrested in Iredell County.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, detectives began searching for Brian Hens Wingler after receiving information from the Wytheville Police Department in Virginia that he could be in Iredell County and may have committed similar crimes locally.
Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, assisted by members of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team and the Warrants Division, located Wingler at a home on Long Pine Road in Statesville on Thursday, July 9, and took him into custody. Detectives also recovered multiple prescription medications from the residence. The medications have been turned over to the Wytheville Police Department.
Wingler was given a $75,000 secured bond on a fugitive from justice, or extradition, charge while awaiting extradition to Virginia. Detectives say the investigation remains active and additional charges are expected.
