Two Catawba County Agencies Charge Man With Assault On Officers

62-year-old Joyce Lynn Wilson of Catawba was arrested Tuesday (August 16) on charges filed by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and Newton Police Department. The Sheriff’s Office charged Wilson with felony counts of assault on a detention employee with serious injury and assault on an officer with serious injury and a misdemeanor count of second-degree trespass. Newton Police filed a count of felony assault on an officer with serious injury.
Wilson was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $15,000 bond. A District Court date was scheduled Wednesday.
