On Sunday, November 9th, at approximately 12:49 p.m., Troutman Police Officers responded to a report of a motorcycle crash in the 100 block of Duck Creek Road. Upon arrival, officers located a motorcycle and its rider off the roadway. The rider, identified as Richard Pendergrass-Nowak, 34, of Troutman, was found deceased at the scene.
The investigation determined that the motorcycle had left the roadway and traveled more than 300 feet before striking a tree. The impact caused fatal injuries to Mr. Pendergrass-Nowak. Excessive speed has been identified as a contributing factor in the crash.
This incident remains under investigation by the Police Department.
