Three suspects have been charged in connection to a shooting in Conover. 20-year-old Lucas Alejandro Garcia of Mockingbird Lane in Hickory, 23-year-old Devon Michael Lewis of 6th Street Court SE in Hickory, and 19-year-old Jakobi Amore Farley of 10th Avenue Drive NE in Hickory, were all arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers. Garcia and Lewis were arrested Tuesday (June 23), Farley was arrested at approximately 1:40 a.m. today (June 24).
All three suspects are charged with felony conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Garcia and Farley are additionally charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
On Tuesday, shortly after 4:30 p.m. deputies with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that stated a person was shot on Winebarger Street in Conover. A 911 caller reported persons in a green Ford F-150 truck firing multiple shots at the Winebarger Street location. When deputies arrived at the scene they discovered one person had been shot in the leg. This person suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.
A short time later deputies located the F-150 as it travelled along C&B Farm Road. The vehicle continued along that road where is was involved in a wreck at the Hwy 16 North intersection. The F-150 left the scene of that collision before being stopped by officers on Smithfield Drive NW in Conover. Two of the three occupants of the truck fled on foot. Garcia was arrested on Smithfield Drive NW. Lewis and Farley were not immediately apprehended.
All three suspects were placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility. Garcia and Farley were jailed under $20,000 bond apiece, Lewis received a $10,000 bond. All three suspects were scheduled to appear in District Court today.
