A teen drowned in Lake Lookout on Tuesday.
The 18-year old female jumped into the lake to take a swim according to a statement from the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office. A friend called for help.
The body was found in 8 feet of water just before nightfall on Tuesday.
The name of the victim has not been released.
Update:
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office says the drowning victim is identified as Zimera Smith, of Hickory. Smith attended Hickory High School.
