Jesse James Asbury
Deputies were dispatched to the Dollar General on Old Mountain Road in reference to a burglar alarm activation. Upon arrival officers noticed that the door was unsecured so deputies ensured no one was still inside. Surveillance cameras were reviewed and this resulted in the determination that two suspects were in the store gathering items. The individuals left through the front door.
A K9 then tracked the suspects. The K9 was able to find multiple items of evidence that had been dropped. The suspects were found running in a wooded near the store and were taken into custody without further incident. The male suspect gave Deputies an invalid name but officers were able to determine that his true identity was Jesse James Asbury. The other suspect is a juvenile female who had been reported missing from Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
The stolen items are valued at approximately $425. Asbury received a $5,000 secured bond. A District Court date is scheduled for December 13. Juvenile Justice was contacted in reference to the female and they issued a secured custody order. She was then transported to Alexander County Juvenile Detention Center.
