Taylorsville Woman Dies In Wilkes County Accident

September 5, 2025 By Richard C. Gilbert

Moravian Falls– On Thursday, September 4, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Wilkes County on NC 16 near the Alexander County Line. A 2016 Acura MDX and a 2013 Dodge Dart, both traveling north on NC 16, collided. This collision caused the driver of the Acura to lose control of the vehicle and veer off the right side of the road. The vehicle went down an embankment, where it struck a tree.

The driver of the Acura, Rose Cotrich, 55, of Taylorsville, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge, Hayden Monroe Bolick, 29, of Taylorsville, was not injured.

During the on-scene investigation, NC 16 was closed in the area for approximately five hours. The initial investigation indicates impairment was not a contributing factor in the collision. Possible charges are pending upon completion of the ongoing investigation.
