On July 24, 2025, the Taylorsville Police Department responded to a reported larceny at the ABC Store. A black male wearing a green jacket had reportedly stolen a bottle of whiskey and fled the scene. Officers located a subject matching the description at the car wash on Old Wilkesboro Road and were able to detain him.
During a search of the subject, officers located the stolen bottle concealed in his pants. As officers attempted to take the subject into custody, an altercation occurred, and the subject fled on foot into a wooded area west of Old Wilkesboro Road.
With the assistance of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, the subject was located in the area of North Wood Circle. A second altercation occurred before the subject was successfully detained.
