Taylorsville Police Make Fentanyl Bust Sunday Morning

Sunday morning at approximately 12:05 AM, Officers with the Taylorsville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a defective tail light at the intersection of West Main Avenue and Liledoun Road.

During the stop, Officers observed drug paraphernalia in the rear floorboard of the vehicle. A subsequent search resulted in the discovery and seizure of additional drug paraphernalia and a quantity of fentanyl.

The driver was identified as 32 year old Paul Manuel Payne of Newton. Payne was charged with the following offenses:

• Felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Payne was brought before a magistrate, where he received a $10,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, October 6th in Taylorsville.
