Taylorsville Police Chief Douglas Bowman has announced his retirement effective August 31st.

Bowman began his career with the department in 1993. He was named Chief in 2020. Bowman’s thirty years of full-time service marks the longest tenured Police Officer in Taylorsville history.

At the Taylorsville Town Council meeting on Tuesday, the board agreed to surplus Bowman’s service weapon and and present it to him as a gift.

Bowman said on Wednesday he plans to spend a lot of time with his family and enjoy some hunting trips with his father, retired Sheriff Chris Bowman and his young son.
