Taylorsville Police Arrest Man After Chase

Scott Eric Monk, age 33 of Taylorsville, is facing a long list of charges. He was arrested by Taylorsville Police on December 29th following a brief chase.

Monk is charged with felony trafficking opium or heroin, felony trafficking schedule II controlled substance, felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony altering serial numbers, felony probation violation, resisting arrest, possession of schedule IV controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with license revoked and providing false information to a police officer.

Monk is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $176,500. He’s serving a 24 month suspended sentence after being convicted in February, 2023 for felony possession of schedule I controlled substance. The conviction was in Catawba County.

Monk was scheduled to make a Tuesday appearance in District Court.
