Taylorsville Man Transferred From Prison To County Jail

Following his release from prison, a Taylorsville man has been jailed for assault on a female and assault by strangulation. The charges date back to 2023. He was later released under $10,000 secured bond.

On Thursday, 22-year old Ethan Lee Cook was transferred from state custody to the Alexander County Detention Center. He was released earlier in the day after serving 19 months in state prison for assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer. The charges date back to December 2021 when Taylorsville Police attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Cook on Lewittes Road. Cook refused to stop and a chase began and ended on Old Vashti Road when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled into a field. According to the arrest report, Cook attempted to ram a patrol vehicle during the chase.
