Taylorsville Man Shot, Suspect Arrested Wednesday Morning

On Wednesday, June 25, at approximately 11:14 AM, Alexander County 911 received a call of a domestic disturbance at 3603 NC Hwy 90 E, Taylorsville. Upon arrival, officers located, James Roger Morton suffering from a single gunshot wound. EMS was requested and the victim was transported to Iredell Memorial Hospital where he was airlifted to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The investigation revealed that Kelly Jerome Warren had shot the victim through an exterior door following a verbal argument.

Kelly Jerome Warren, age 45 of Taylorsville, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury. Warren is currently being held under a $50,000 secured bond.

A first appearance in District Court is scheduled for June 30th.
