Taylorsville Man Released From Prison Then Placed In Jail

A Taylorsville man was released from state prison on Wednesday and transferred to the custody of the Alexander County Detention Center.

Ricky James Kilby, age 37. is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center on July charges filed by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office for felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, first-degree trespass and probation violations. He is scheduled to appear in Alexander County District Court on Monday, December 18th.

Kilby was convicted in March for felony possession of schedule I controlled substance. The sentence was suspended until he was arrested again in July. After serving only three months of a five to seventeen month term, he was released on Wednesday and handed over to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office.

Kilby also has a charge pending in Catawba County for felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. His court date in Newton is set for February 19th.
